London / Herts Local Sections Golf Challenge 21st September 2007

The 6th Annual London/Herts Local Sections Golf Challenge held at Redbourn Golf

Club on 21st September proved to be as popular and successful as ever. The popularity

of the event remains at a very high level as born out yet again by a full compliment of

18 teams and 71 players participating in a shotgun start and occupying the entire golf

course.

We welcomed some newcomers to the event this year as well as the traditional

stalwart supporters. The organisers would like to thank all sponsors new and old, as it

is their generosity and continued support that makes this event so successful. Our

thanks also go to our able assistants on the day Russell Baker and Henry Downes for

their help with the official photography and the scoring, not to mention their welcome

appearances with cold drinks buggy at various intervals during the round. The

organisers debated whether to attribute lower points scoring than usual to the contents

of the drinks trolley before finally deciding that it was down to the strong winds

prevailing on the day!

The overall event winner with 34 stableford points and the winner of a handsome

trophy and an electric golf trolley was David Orr playing on the Task team. This

contributed to a successful day for the Task team who with 33 points also won the

overall winning team prize and a golf bag each. The next 4 teams all came in with 84

points and the runners up and third place teams decided on countback were

Yokogawa Marex and Tyco #1.

For those who wish to make a note in their diary the date of next year's event is

Friday 19th September. Early expression of interest is strongly recommended.
